Anglicare Chaplain Warren Hinton

NewLife Anglican / Anglicare Chaplain Warren Hinton

Where are you from?

I was born in Sutherland and have lived in various suburbs around Sydney. Today I call Gledswood Hills home.

Tell us about your family.

I have been married to Josephine (a Korean national), for 14 years. We have two children, our eldest son Aaron (13 years) and our daughter Miriam (11 years).

How’d you come to know Jesus?

Unbeknownst to each other, a close friend and a work colleague were witnessing to me about Jesus. There came a time when I could feel their words penetrating more deeply into my mind and heart. At the age of 28, after a Salvation Army dedication service in Parramatta, I was convinced to ask the Lord Jesus into my life.

What did you do before you became a pastor?

I was a Banker. A Credit Manager to be exact, leading a team of Credit Analysts, at ING (International Netherlands Group) Sydney.

What inspires you about this role?

I really like to help people make the most of the rest of their lives. This has most effect when viewed in the light of the life of Jesus who told us not to neglect to make plans for our lives after this one.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I purchased a bike during the pandemic and enjoy getting out on it. Other than that, my children are my devotion. I’m like a squirrel before winter comes, running them about the place.
