Kids, Youth and Families Pastor Michael Mak

NewLife Anglican / Kids, Youth and Families Pastor Michael Mak

Where are you from?

I was born in Hong Kong and grew up in the Sutherland Shire. Before moving to Oran Park Anglican in early 2017, I have ministered in Sylvania, Windsor, Oatley and Gymea.

Tell us about your family.

I’m currently single – I also have a younger sister who is currently studying in university.

How’d you come to Jesus?

I attended youth group with my school friends when I was in high school. It was during that time I was challenged that as a sinner I needed Jesus and he has died on the cross to take my sin away. I gave my life to Jesus when i was in year 12.

What did you do before you became a pastor?

I was at university studying for a Bachelor of Computer Science. During my second year in university, God has challenged me to think about serving Him for the rest of my life.

What inspires you about this role?

I love working with children and youth and I am passionate about giving the message of new life of Jesus and helping them to live the new life for Jesus. I am excited about the opportunity of serving God in the vibrant and growing community of Oran Park and surrounds and getting to know the families here.

What do you enjoying doing in your spare time?

In my spare time, I enjoy finding out more about aviation (I’m a plane geek), listening to Air Traffic Control,  hanging out with friends as well as travelling.
