God saves
Simple thought for today from Exodus 19. God saves. This beautiful verse captures God telling His people about how He freed them from chains and labour in Egypt to be a people set apart for Him. He does this not because they deserved it but because of His grace. He does it magnificently to draw Israel to Himself. He does it because relationship is the key.
We can know that it’s by grace because of where we find these beautiful words. Exodus 19 comes *before* Exodus 20 – which contains the Ten Commandments. Salvation is by grace. Obedience is for the saved – not the means to be saved.
I’ll be expanding this theme on Sunday if you’d like to join us live and online.
In the mean time here’s a prayer:
Dear Lord, we thank You that You are a relational God – love is at the core of who You are as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We thank You that in Your mercy You chose to draw us into relationship with You. We are grateful for Your love poured out in the death and resurrection of Your Son our Saviour Jesus. Thanks for Your wings of rescue spread out to rescue us from our slavery in the ‘Egypt’ of sin. Help me to live conscious of your protection and love this day.
Amen.
Stuart.
