On the Day of Atonement the priest would sacrifice animals. Sprinkling of blood was used to cleanse as life is in the blood. These rites showed the importance of cleansing from sin and foretold of God’s plan of salvation. From a shoot from the stump if Israel, someone will bring peace. He will be a servant, he will have no beauty. He will be disfigured and marred and we will be appalled. The Lord will lay on him the innocent lamb the sins of the world. From humiliation will come exaltation and salvation.
